The SA Crawford Fund Committee is calling for scientists under 35 years to apply to attend the annual conference on 12 and 13 August 2019 in Canberra. It is titled “Weathering the ‘Perfect Storm’: Addressing the Agriculture, Energy, Water, Climate Change Nexus.”

The conference scholarships are a fantastic opportunity for young people passionate about food and nutrition security or agricultural research and development to further their study and careers and learn about volunteering opportunities in this challenging and rewarding field.

Application instructions can be found on the Crawford Fund website using this link https://www.crawfordfund.org/news/launching-our-2019-conference-scholarships/. Closing date is Monday 17 June and applications need to be forwarded to the coordinator at roger.wickes@crawfordfund.org.

To be eligible, applicants must be:

  • Under the age of 35 as at 1 July 2019,
  • Either a full-time student at a university or working in agricultural science or related field,
  • Able to demonstrate an interest in international agricultural development

Preference will be given to applicants who are Australian citizens or permanent residents.

Those sponsored to attend the conference will be required to make a presentation at a relevant academic, research or other institute or group; work to enhance interest amongst their peers in international agricultural research; and provide a 500-word article outlining how they benefited from the conference and what they considered to be the highlights. These articles will be included in the Crawford Fund e-newsletter and website.

Successful applicants will be notified, by 5 July 2019.
