The School of Agriculture, Food and Wine seeks to appoint an emerging leader in soil science with experience in undergraduate learning and teaching.

This opportunity will enable an early career researcher to join a team of world class soil science academics in teaching and researching their area of expertise. The appointee will introduce innovative approaches to teaching and assessment and contribute collaboratively to curriculum design for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in soil science. The successful candidate will also contribute to the current research strategy of the School and have the opportunity to develop and expand their research, focusing on soil science related initiatives.

To be successful at Level A, you will need:

  • A PhD in soil science or a related discipline.
  • Experience in teaching at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, with an ability to contribute to course development.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under limited supervision to deliver excellent educational outcomes, including demonstrated capacity to relate to students from a variety of backgrounds.
  • A track record relative to opportunity in soil science research or related field evidenced by papers in peer-reviewed journals, and trade journals, patents or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate research results to a diverse set of academic, industry and lay audiences as well as strong organisational, time management, intercultural and interpersonal skills.

To be successful at Level B, you will need:

  • A PhD in soil science or a related discipline, with at least 3 years’ postdoctoral experience.
  • Experience in teaching at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, with an ability to contribute to course development and the introduction of novel approaches to teaching.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality teaching-related activities including assessment, marking, pastoral care and maintaining online learning platforms connected with courses.
  • A strong track record in soil science research or related field evidenced by papers in peer-reviewed journals, and trade journals, patents or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under limited supervision to deliver excellent educational outcomes, including demonstrated capacity to relate to students from a variety of backgrounds.
