The ABC TOP 5 program is tailored for early-career researchers. Program graduates are equipped with career-long skills, knowledge and confidence to communicate with media and their audiences about their field of expertise.
Each year, the program puts out a call to Australia’s higher education sector and research organisations to find the top 5 PhD scholars in three categories: Humanities, Science and the Arts. The researchers-in-residence spend two weeks working alongside the ABC’s award-winning journalists and producers, learning first-hand about the craft of delivery through radio, television and digital platforms.
The program is an investment by the ABC and our program partners in our drive to share new knowledge. It is delivered at no cost to universities or participants.
Applications are open from 8:30am (AEST) on Friday 31 March 2023, and close at 11:59pm (AEST) on Sunday 14 May 2023.
