Women in Plant Science event at Waite’s Yarning Circle

Yesterday, Dr Alison Bentley (CSIRO) and Dr Ali Gill (Plants for Space) hosted a Women in Plant Science morning tea at the new Waite Yarning Circle. We were lucky to be joined by Senior Kaurna Woman, Aunty Lynette, as well as Dr Hannah Brown (Sparkle Ideas Lab), Dr Jessica Hyles (GRDC), and Laura Markham (CSIRO). Aunty Lynette shared stories about Kaurna healing plants and connection to the land, and the other panellists discussed their experiences as female plant scientists/leaders. It was a great turnout, with approximately 50 attendees from all across campus including the School of AFW, CSIRO, SARDI, APPN and AWRI. We thank the Yitpi Foundation, WRI, APPN and CSIRO for sponsoring the event.
