Lachlan Mitchell and Wendy Li from the University of Adelaide visited the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) in February 2019.
During the visit, Wendy has introduced the SAGI-STH group and Waite campus of the University of Adelaide and delivered the introduction to R courses to 37 participants, including 4 international students in a bilingual setting.
The one-day course was delivered to groups of 12 participants in English thus providing the participants the authentic Australian learning experience. Course notes were translated into Chinese as a reference for participants and class questions were answered in Chinese. Overall, the course was well received by the participating staff and students from the SJTU.
This was part of the research capacity building agenda of the Australia-China Joint Research Centre of Grains for Health.
