We have learned that Shirley Jean (Jeanie) Susman, who was the Waite Librarian from 1951 to 1986, has recently passed away.

During her tenure, the Waite Library moved from rooms in the Ransom Mortlock Laboratories (Waite Building), to a purpose-built building (now part of the Charles Hawker building).

In the days when academic staff depended on copies of journals in the Library as well as the latest books for research and teaching, Jeanie and her staff provided exceptional support.

She was a great supporter of activities on the Campus and was a foundation member of the Friends of Urrbrae House in 1991, serving on the management committee for the subsequent eleven years.
