The Future of Tea: A Collaboration between Dilmah Tea and the University of Adelaide
The University of Adelaide was proud to collaborate with Dilmah Tea in hosting the Future of Tea session, presented by second generation Teamaker Dilhan C. Fernando and hosted by Jason Able. This event brought together academics and industry leaders to explore the challenges and opportunities facing the global tea industry.
The session highlighted the importance of sustainable practices across the supply chain, with discussions centred on soil health, biodiversity, livelihoods, and climate adaptation. These themes resonate strongly with the University’s commitment to advancing research that addresses global challenges in agriculture, food, and the environment.
Fernando shared the Teamaker’s Story, emphasising the role of science and innovation in securing a resilient future for tea. The event underscored how industry and academia can work together to develop nature-based solutions that protect ecosystems while supporting communities.
Guests enjoyed a unique pairing experience featuring Dilmah’s Watte Single Garden Teas alongside locally sourced South Australian produce, showcasing the connection between tradition, innovation, and regional food culture.
