Ben Sparrow is an Associate Professor at The University of Adelaide and leads TERN Ecosystem Surveillance. His work focuses on environmental surveillance monitoring, including methods and analysis of ecosystem surveillance datasets.

Ben directs the ground surveillance monitoring component of TERN’s National Environmental Research Infrastructure and coordinates TERN’s validation data for Earth Observation activities. He has held positions conducting and leading biological surveys and extensive vegetation mapping in South Australia and has previously served as Principal Scientist – Land Resources South, managing the Land Resources section of the NT Government.

Ben’s work involves creating scientifically sound, pragmatic, and practical tools and strategies that can be implemented operationally for ecosystem monitoring. With Ben’s extensive experience in environmental monitoring, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the discussion on site experiments and long-term ecological monitoring.
