The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) celebrates the exciting research conducted by PhD students. It  is a skills development competition that challenges Higher Degree by Research students to explain their research project to a non-specialist audience in just three minutes and with only a single static slide permitted.

The School of Ag, Food and Wine heat was held on Thursday August 4 and showcased some of the excellent students here at Waite.

Pictured left to right are the winners from the School heat:

  • Laura Wilkinson – people’s choice winner: Molecular and physiological cues influencing maternal development in barley.
  • Nicholas Sitlington Hansen – Waite heat winner: Quantifying nitrogen uptake efficiency in wheat using high-throughput phenotyping.
  • Sijing Li – Waite heat runner-up: The use of winemaking supplements to modulate sensory properties in wine.

Nicholas and Sijing will now compete in the Faculty of Science 3MT final this Thursday evening 25th August. Come along and support our students! All who are interested in attending are encouraged to register as *drinks and nibbles will be provided making this a perfect networking occasion.
