Science Showcase 2024- Call out for expressions of interest
The Adelaide Club and the Royal Society of South Australia have joined forces to present a Science Showcase in October 2024. PhD students and post-doctoral researchers are invited to present their research and/or start-up enterprises to a mixed audience of Adelaide though-leaders as well as high school students about to select senior school subjects and undergraduate students contemplating a research career. The showcase is designed to allow guests and presenters to mingle in an informal setting where 10-15 selected researchers will demonstrate their scientific work and guests will be able to engage directly, ask questions and become familiar with the career opportunities and pathways offered by studying science subjects. The Science Showcase will be followed by an informal lunch for all.
The Science Showcase offers young researchers an opportunity to:
– Present their work to the public as a competitively-selected speaker
– Share their experiences with young people considering choosing a science-focused path for their studies
– Engage with mentors and thought-leaders in an interesting and informal setting
– Contribute to raising the profile of science and research in South Australia
Interested?
Submit your name, contact details and place of research/supervisor, along with a pitch of up to 150 words describing:
– The research you want to present
– How you propose to communicate information (e.g. video, demonstration, poster)
– What you expect to get out of the Science Showcase experience
Email your pitch expression of interest or any further questions to: admin@rssa.org.au by June 21, 2024.
