Analytics for the Australian Grains Industry (AAGI-AU) and The Biometry Hub are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Casual Research Assistant (Biometry) to join our team at the Waite Campus.
In this role, you will support the Senior Biometrician to deliver our Service & Support projects allocated by GRDC. Responsibilities include data cleaning, visualisation, statistical analysis, report writing and other tasks as required by each project.
What We’re Looking For
- Knowledge of linear models, ANOVA, or regression
- Familiarity with experimental design principles (e.g. replication, randomisation, blocking)
- Experience using R for data manipulation and visualisation (e.g. tidyverse, ggplot2)
- A genuine interest in applying data science to agricultural and biological research
- Available to start in January 2026.
Desirable Skills
- Exposure to linear mixed models or spatial data analysis
- Familiarity with version control (GitHub) or reproducible workflows
- Experience developing R functions or Shiny applications
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, or a related quantitative discipline

We offer flexible contract arrangements to suit your availability. Depending on the candidate’s experience, the position will be provided at the HEO4 or HEO5 level, with a maximum of 25 hours per week for a period of four months, with a possibility of extension through a new fixed-term contract.
