Are you passionate about sustainable foods or alternative proteins? Curious about the flavour and texture of edible insects?

The University of Adelaide is recruiting people aged 18 or older to participate in a trained descriptive sensory panel that will complete sensory profiling for dehydrated, boiled, deep-fried and roasted farm-raised edible insects (mealworms, house crickets, tyrant ants, green tree ants).

Panel screening will be held on the following dates, at the Waite Campus, Urrbrae (participants will receive a $10 gift voucher for a screening session).

  • 9AM – 12PM, Tuesday 1st March 2022
  • 9AM – 12PM, Wednesday 2nd March 2022

If you are eligible to participate, panel training and sensory analysis will be held on the following dates, at the Waite Campus, Urrbrae.

  • 9AM – 12PM, Monday 28th March 2022
  • 9AM – 12PM, Tuesday 29th March 2022
  • 9AM – 12PM, Wednesday 30th March 2022
  • 9AM – 12PM, Monday 4th April 2022
  • 9AM – 12PM, Tuesday 5th April 2022
  • 9AM – 12PM, Wednesday 6th April 2022
  • 9AM – 12PM, Monday 11th April 2022
  • 9AM – 12PM, Tuesday 12th April 2022

Participants will receive a $20 gift voucher for each training and sensory analysis session. Participation is optional, and you can withdraw at any stage.

Please note, you will need to attend all sessions to participate in the descriptive sensory panel. If you aren’t available for the morning sessions, an evening session can be arranged from 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM on all scheduled dates except for the 21, 22 and 23 of March when attendance at the morning session is required.
