Calling on science and medical professionals! The Science Comedy Program is returning to Adelaide, with a series of talks as part of the Adelaide Fringe Festival.
During the program, you’ll master a series of comedy and storytelling techniques, and then give your talk in front of a live audience at one of the shows that will be held on an evening during the date range Sunday 23 Feb and Thursday 6 March.
The 8-workshop program is mostly held during lunch breaks. It includes three exclusive 1:1 sessions with experienced comedians and science comedy trainers, who have trained hundreds of scientists to give a 10-minute talk that’s 80% science and 20% comedy. The team at Future Science Talks guarantees your talk will be hilarious. For proof, check out some of the talks on their YouTube channel, like this talk on the search for a new Earth. The training team is the only team to specialise in science comedy and you’ll learn techniques that you can use professionally to win over others and build rapport with stakeholders.
The Science Comedy Program has run for three years and in 2024 there were over 250 science professionals across Australia who their talks in major comedy and fringe festivals.
The course is paid – it is $550, with the rate reduced to $400 for those on a PhD stipend. Workplaces are almost always supportive and typically fund the positions.
