How to get cut-through in an information-saturated world
Telling the stories of research to the public can be challenging because science often doesn’t fit neatly into the format of the short media ‘news story’, and social media is flooded with information, all of which is competing for users’ limited time and attention.
In addition, some of the lessons researchers learn about communicating with their peers and colleagues can, unfortunately, get in the way of effective communication with the general public.
During this workshop, we’ll look at how you can tell your story in a punchy, engaging way, and provide you with valuable insights into the world of the media and science journalism.
We’ll also discuss the social channels researchers can turn to now that X (Twitter) has become a major turn-off.
These lessons can be applied to stakeholder engagement, funding applications, public talks and outreach, as well as media work and boosting your social media presence.
