Congratulations!

From the desk of Prof Jason Able:

Please join me in congratulating Jenny Mortimer who has been promoted to Professor as of January 1st, 2025

A wonderful outcome for Jenny who has had significant success since arriving at UA a few years back as a Top Talent appointment.

Jenny’s research is in the broad area of plant synthetic biology with a focus on developing plant-derived biofuels, biomaterials, and foods that contribute to the advancement of sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture (whether here on Earth or beyond). Here is just a snapshot of Jenny’s research achievements since ‘landing’ at UA:

Attracted >$12M as lead/sole CI, with >$300M in collaborative grants across the globe;

A publication output that is outstanding, both in quality and quantity (Jenny has published 59 peer-reviewed articles in the past 5 years alone, many of which (82%) have been in prestigious Q1 journals such as Nature [IF: 50.5], Science [IF: 44.7], as well as several other high profile journals in the Nature ‘stable’ with IF ranging from 14.7-38.1);

A h-index of 41 that is rapidly accelerating (as indicated by a very strong i10-index of 71);

A CNCI of 2.2, with >30% of journal articles being in the top 10% of most cited papers. Astounding!

The many and very positive relationships Jenny has with School staff, her research group staff and students cannot be understated and this is a testament to Jenny leading by example as a Professor in our institution.

Well done Prof Mortimer, richly deserved.
