Dr Jennifer Gardner from the University of Adelaide School of Agriculture, Food and Wine, has been awarded a Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia for service to conservation and the environment.

Dr Gardner has been Curator of the Waite Arboretum for more than 30 years during which time she has significantly increased the collection with more than 2200 trees planted.

She has overseen the growth of broad community and public engagement with the Arboretum and Waite Conservation Reserve, co-founding the Friends of the Waite Arboretum and Friends of the Waite Conservation Reserve. She is also co-founder of national research and education organisation TREENET, which makes a significant contribution to Australia’s ‘urban forest’.
