The WRI Symposium 2025 brought together leading researchers, industry partners, and postgraduate scholars from across the Waite Campus and beyond to showcase innovation in plant, soil, and agricultural sciences.

As one of the flagship events in the Waite Research Institute calendar, the Symposium outlined cutting-edge work that addresses global challenges in sustainable agriculture, climate resilience, and food system transformation.

This year’s program features a diverse range of presentations spanning crop improvement, viticulture and oenology, soil microbiome dynamics, digital agriculture, and emerging biotechnologies. The 200 attendees heard the insights from established researchers alongside fresh perspectives from early-career scientists. A special focus for 2025 was the integration of interdisciplinary approaches to solve complex agricultural problems—from leveraging AI in field management to understanding how microbial communities influence plant health and productivity.

A highlight of the symposium was the PhD student showcase, where emerging researchers presented their latest findings and discuss the real-world impact of their work. This forum not only celebrates student achievement but also fosters collaboration between research groups and industry stakeholders. Collectively, the WRI Symposium 2025 reflected the vibrancy of the Waite research community and its commitment to shaping a more sustainable and innovative future for agriculture.
