Every month, the professional development meetings of statisticians and data scientists at Waite, known as StatsPD@Waite, bring together specialists in various aspects of data sciences in agriculture from Waite, Roseworthy and Adelaide.

Title: Data Stories: A Resource for Statistics and Agriculture Education

Last year we successfully applied for the Yipti Grant, for a project in the area of agricultural education. Our project, titled “Data Stories”, is an online resource consisting of a curated collection of real datasets, showcasing the variety of research undertaken in agricultural science. Accompanying each dataset is a story – a short document that includes a background of the research project, and a tutorial of statistical methods that may be used to analyse the data. In this talk we will share the progress of the project, and discuss the ways in which this educational resource might be integrated into our current approach to statistical education.
