Mar 26, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Introduction to Experimental Design

Have you ever found yourself pondering the intricacies of experimental design? Have you questioned the reasoning behind the sample sizes you’re advised to choose? Perhaps you aspire to independently craft and comprehend basic experiments. If these questions resonate with you, then you’re in the right place!

Welcome to our workshop – a gentle introduction to the art of experimental design using R. In this engaging session, we’ll demystify the principles that underpin experimental design. You’ll gain the practical skills and knowledge to confidently plan and grasp the essence of straightforward experiments. Join us on this journey of discovery!

Workshop Overview

  • Understanding the principles of experiment design is essential for effectively analysing gathered data.
  • If you frequently conduct small-scale experiments and wish to enhance your ability to design them optimally, this course is tailored for you.
  • The experiment’s design directly influences the required sample size.

Reasons to Enrol

  • This course is presented by industry experts and is open to researchers from various agricultural fields.
  • It is designed to be accessible, with a wealth of examples and hands-on exercises to ensure your grasp of the material.

Anticipated Outcomes

  • You’ll gain proficiency in the fundamentals of experimental design.
  • Practical experience in utilising R and relevant packages through real-world examples.
  • The knowledge to estimate the necessary sample sizes for your experiments.
  • A deeper insight into the rationale behind the specific design choices made in your experiments.

Pre-requisites

  • Basic knowledge of R is assumed. If you’re new to R, we recommend taking an Introduction
to R course before registering for this workshop. Feel free to email us if you have any questions or require further guidance.
  • You will need a laptop or computer with R and RStudio installed

The trainer will send out details on location / Zoom link closer to the workshop
