Join internationally acclaimed Italian classical guitar soloist, Lorenzo Bernardi for an enchanting concert of music from “Bella Italia”.
Italy’s position in the Mediterranean and its grafting onto the heart of Europe has allowed “Bella Italia” to assimilate an incredible number of diverse cultural influences over the centuries.
Lorenzo Bernardi, a young, passionate guitarist from Trento in Italy, will explore the aesthetic and spiritual values of Italian culture through the popular, versatile instrument of the six string guitar.
In a new exclusive program, Lorenzo draws upon a treasure chest of Italian composers including the sonatas of Domenico Scarlatti, undisputed master of the baroque and the guitar compositions of Niccolò Paganini, the greatest violinist of all times. Lorenzo’s program continues with the operatic pages of the nineteenth century by Pietro Mascagni; the romantic melodrama of La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi; and the works of Paraguayan composer Agustín Barrios Mangoré who was profoundly influenced by the European musical forms and an incredible testimony to how Italian culture has travelled all over the world. The musical journey finishes with the immortal scores of Ennio Morricone, where the guitar has found a new, ample stage in cinematic soundtracks.
This concert is sponsored by the Autonomous Province of Trento, Emigration Office in Italy (Ufficio Emigrazione, Provincia autonoma di Trento) and the Consulate of Italy in Adelaide (Consolato d’Italia Adelaide).
