Research Tuesdays – Cracking Cancer

Apr 12, 2022, 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

A large, dedicated research team of global standing is now decoding cancer’s mysteries right here in Adelaide.

The South Australian Immunogenomics Cancer Institute (SAiGENCI)—launched mid-2021 and jointly resourced by the federal Department of Health, Central Adelaide Local Health Network, and University of Adelaide—is the state’s premier body in the national cancer research effort. SAiGENCI will present at the next Research Tuesdays.

Working in partnership with other leading Australian and international institutes, SAiGENCI will host world-class teams focusing on cancer research and clinical trials, which will include new cutting-edge technologies in immunotherapies and genomics. These efforts will allow for coordinated collaboration in the fight to control cancer and explore a cure. Please join us for an inspiring introduction to their life-saving—and life-enhancing—work.

SPEAKERS:
Professor Jose Polo is Director of SAiGENCI’s Adelaide Centre for Epigenetics. Jose began his research career at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute and is a former research group leader at Monash University, Australian Research Council Future Fellow, and Victorian young Tall Poppy Award winner.
Associate Professor Luciano Martelotto heads the Single Cell and Spatial Technologies Lab in SAiGENCI’s Adelaide Centre for Epigenetics. Luciano is a former Scientific Director of Harvard University’s Single Cell Core Laboratory.
