Present methods and future algorithms in BayesVarSel

Date: Tue, 9 September 2025, 4:30-5:30 PM (Adelaide)

Location: Zoom meeting

Contact: biometryhub@adelaide.edu.au

Presenter: Gonzalo Garcia-Donato; professor at University of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain

BayesVarSel is an R package that offers a suite of tools for hypothesis testing and variable selection in linear models from a formally objective Bayesian perspective. Its first version was released on CRAN in 2012. The package was designed to provide users with an intuitive and straightforward experience, while placing emphasis—particularly for Bayesian researchers—on prior distributions for within-model parameters.

Over the past thirteen years, BayesVarSel has evolved substantially, reflecting the ongoing interests of our research group.

In the first part of this talk, I will provide an overview of the main functionalities currently available in version 2.4.5 (January 2025). In the second part, I will introduce the key algorithms—along with instructions for their use—that stem from our research in areas related to variable selection and will shape future versions of the package.
