Prof. Rohwer pioneered the field of viromics. He will present on the role of viruses and microorganisms in the health of coral ecosystems.

Summary: Tens-of-millions of life forms, the most abundant and biodiverse being the bacteriophage, call coral reefs home. All of these diverse life forms are interacting with each other in ever changing ways and all of this activity occurs within the dynamical Gaian biosphere. This makes coral reefs incredibly complex. Learn about how the Rohwer lab is using metagenomics and other omics tools to better understand the world’s most biodiverse environments.
