WRI-funded genomic sequence analysis workshop – attached to the Australian Barley Technical Symposium (12-15 August).
Dr Miriam Schreiber will be visiting the Waite Campus on Mon 19 and Tues 20 August to coordinate a 2-day workshop on genomic sequence analysis.
Miriam is from the James Hutton Institute and International Barley Hub, Scotland. She has significant experience working with the barley pangenome, and has capitalised on diverse sequencing technologies to identify polymorphisms in candidate genes underlying mutant phenotypes.
The sequence analysis workshop is targeted towards PhD/ECRs who are interested in using genome assemblies, particularly in complex crops such as barley, to support their work. Miriam will discuss online tools available to the cereal community and how to access them. Miriam will also share practical tips and methodologies for using short and long read sequencing approaches to find candidate causal mutations, SNPs, indels, and genomic rearrangements.
Placements are currently limited to 10 researchers. Should you be interested in attending, please send an application to wri@adelaide.edu.au. Your application must include a short (maximum 2-page) CV, and a 300-word statement detailing how this workshop could enhance your research. Applications should be submitted by COB, Friday 28th June.
