Community Forum: Safe Soil, Safe Food

May 22, 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

We are pleased to invite everyone to a Community Forum – an exclusive opportunity to hear firsthand the results of the ‘Safe Soil, Safe Food’ citizen science research project on Thursday 22 May, 5:30-6:30pm.

Made possible by citizen scientists from around the Adelaide metropolitan region, this research project has been the first to examine how widely spread per- and polyfluouralkyl substances (PFAS) are in our home gardens.

Having sifted through hundreds of soil samples, the research team are now coming together to share the results with the community first!

Join soil health researcher Dr Matthias Salomon and PFAS expert Dr Shervin Kabiri to learn what was found (or not found!) in Adelaide’s backyards. We will also share the latest in PFAS remediation techniques and endeavour to answer your soil health queries.

Date: Thursday 22 May, 2025

Time: 5:30-6:30pm (followed by 30mins post-event networking, optional)

Location: Lecture Theatre G04, Napier building, North Terrace campus, University of Adelaide (an online attendance option is also available)
