Applications for the 2019 L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Australian & New Zealand Fellowships are now open.

Each year the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science program recognises the achievements of outstanding female scientists in over 100 countries. Since 1998 over 2,500 women have been awarded Fellowships to support their continued research.

Applications can be submitted through the website – www.forwomeninscience.com.au under the “Apply” tab.

Five For Women in Science Fellowships worth $25,000 will be awarded in 2019 – four for Australia and one for New Zealand. This is intended to provide practical help for the winners to undertake research in their chosen fields and the winners may choose to spend their fellowship on buying scientific equipment, paying for child care costs, conference & travel costs or other items they may need to continue their research.

Applicants within five years of completing their PhD (not including career breaks) are welcome from a variety of fields including life sciences, clinical and health sciences, material sciences, physical sciences, mathematics or engineering.

Fellowships will be awarded at the For Women in Science ceremony in October 2019.

Applications opened on Monday 28th January and will close at midnight Monday 4th March 2019.

Current PhD students can also apply to participate in the For Women in Science Mentoring Scheme.

The application form and more information about the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Australian & New Zealand program can be found at www.forwomeninscience.com.au.
