Waite researchers from the School of Ag, Food and Wine invite you to join a gin sensory study (odour/flavour testing).
Participants are sought for a variety of possible sensory tests. Individuals are not required to volunteer for each test scenario but may be contacted to participate in further sensory studies as part of this project, if necessary.
- Difference test: Participants will be required to attend for one single session (1 hr) for an odour/flavour differentiation test of commercial gin products. A 5 min briefing will be given before the start of the test.
- Descriptive analysis (DA): Participants will be required to attend for multiple (4-5) sessions (2 hrs) over a number of weeks. Sessions will involve a mix of training and calibration of participants palates to an agreed standard as well as odour/flavour testing of commercial products.
- Rate all that apply (RATA): Participants will be required to attend two sessions (2 hrs) for odour/flavour testing of commercial gin products. A 10 min briefing will be given before the start of the test.

Location: Sensory Booths, Lv4, Wine Innovation Central Building, Waite Campus, Adelaide Uni (Hartley Grove cnr Paratoo Road, Urrbrae, SA 5064).
Compensation: Participants not affiliated with the University of Adelaide will receive a gift card ($10 per session) commensurate with time committed.
This study is conducted under Human Research Ethics Committee Approval Number: H-2018-277. You must be 18 years of age and over to participate, and previous beer, wine or spirit consumption or tasting experience is required to participate in this study.
Participation in this project is completely voluntary. If you agree to participate, you can withdraw from the study at any time prior to the publication of results, and non-participation or withdrawal will not affect your relationship with the University.
