Waite Artist in Residence Program
Feb 3, 8:00 am - Mar 31, 5:00 pm
The Waite Campus Indigenous Artist in Residence workshop programme kicks off this month.
We are honoured and privileged to have the opportunity to connect with Cedric Varcoe. As we are the first CSIRO site to participate in this program, we are breaking new ground for CSIRO and the site! Its important that we lead the way and participate.
Cedric Varcoe will host a series of workshops in Feb to get the process started (overview attached). The first set of workshops (Feb 3-11) are 1 hour each over 2 weeks where Cedric will discuss symbols, storylines, and the meanings of paintings in design. Each participant will create their own painting over the course of the 2 weeks. Please register here– first come, best dressed (be quick!)
Following this set of workshops, Cedric will host two workshops (Feb 17-26) to develop the mural with staff. Drawings and paintings that incorporate your work with indigenous stories and symbols will be collected. Please register here.
In March, Cedric will be painting the mural on the wall in between Taylor and Prescott on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Feel free to grab a brush and join in or sit for a chat while he’s working!
If you are interested in joining one of the workshops, please fill out the form here. Included is a short feedback questionnaire to gauge interest and background knowledge. As this is the first Artist in Residence project, thanks for your help in providing feedback so that we can shape this to be a stellar outcome. If you have any questions, please contact me directly.
