The Friends of Urrbrae House will hold their Annual General Meeting on Thursday, 15 April 2019 at 5.30pm – 7.15pm.
Venue: Urrbrae House, Waite Campus
Guest Speaker: Rick Moore
Topic: “The Golden Age of exploration”
Come along to a free history talk by guest speaker Rick Moore. Rick will discuss the “Golden Age” of Australian Exploration. Europeans had visited and mapped much of the continent and named it Java Le Grande 250 years before Capt. James Cook arrived. But did you know that 350 years before Cook, another seafaring and trading nation visited these shores? Rick will then focus on some of the significant inland explorers, the consequences of their discoveries, and investigate some of the extraordinary men from the Kingdom of Fife.
Rick is the current President of the John McDouall Stuart Society Inc, a member of the Royal Geographical Society and Burnside Historical Society. His major area of interest is the exploration and pastoral history of South Australia and Northern Territory with a passion for the arid lands.
This talk will be preceded by a brief Annual General Meeting of the Friends of Urrbrae House. No bookings necessary and all welcome.
