Work has now commenced by the City of Mitcham on Waite Road!

Kent Civil – The City of Mitcham contractors working on Waite Road have advised us that on Monday 18th  / Tuesday 19th  September they will be removing the roundabouts on the corner of Hartley Grove and Claremont Ave and that Campus Gate 5 roadway will be closed while they lay a new drain and concrete crossover.

This Gate 5 closure will affect access to the CSIRO buildings Taylor, Prescott, Holmes etc, however access should be possible from Hartley Grove.  Please also remember that Mulyungerie carpark is available for staff and visitors parking.

Further advice – The contractors indicated a construction period of approximately 10 weeks and we have asked if they could keep us up to date with a few days notice of any works affecting access so we can advise campus users.

The City of Mitcham is upgrading the section of Waite Road between Hartley Grove and Claremont Avenue (and to Heather Avenue if funds permit) including a wombat crossing, new and widened footpaths, upgraded lighting, a pedestrian refuge and upgrades to the existing kerb and pavement as shown on the provided plan. Access is anticipated to be maintained at all times for pedestrians and motorists during the works however, there may be short periods where the road will be closed during major construction periods.

For further information on the Waite Road upgrade project, please speak to The City of Mitcham Strategic Traffic and Transport Engineer, Chris Dunn on 8372 8863 or the Campus Manager Mark Branson 8313 0198
