AI in the Classroom:
Inspiring Future Innovators at ASMS
Artificial Intelligence took center stage at the Australian Science and Mathematics School (ASMS), where engineers from the Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML) and AAGI (Analytics for the Australian Grains Industry), based at the University of Adelaide, led an interactive and engaging session exploring the core principles of AI.
Students were introduced to key concepts including data, modelling and prediction, supervised learning, facial recognition, ethical decision-making and augmented reasoning. The session connected theory with real-world impact and sparked thoughtful discussion about the future of intelligent systems.
A live demonstration featuring Rosa, the robotic dog, brought machine learning to life. Her lifelike movements and responsive interactions gave students a tangible glimpse into the possibilities of robotics and AI.
The event showcased the collaborative work of AIML, AAGI and the Biometry Hub, highlighting their contributions to agricultural AI and broader machine learning applications. These University of Adelaide teams are driving innovation and building AI literacy for the future of Australian research and industry.
