Dear users of Adelaide Microscopy’s Waite Facility,

Power upgrade and network cabling work is due to commence in Building 80 (previously Building 19). This is welcome news, as it will provide the Waite Facility with a much needed IT network upgrade, and a backup generator for critical instruments during power outage. Preparation begins next week, commences in earnest on Wed 29 October, and is expected to continue until Christmas.

We will do our best to accommodate your needs during this time, either at the Waite or at our North Terrace facility.

A temporary Waite facility will be located in the Plant Genomics Centre Room 1.41, to reduce inconvenience due to power interruptions and dust. Moving to the temporary facility is expected to happen next week 23-26 October. The temporary facility will house the Nikon A1R confocal, Ni-E optical, and SMZ25 stereo microscopes, and some associated specimen preparation equipment including the Vibratome and Rotary Microtome 2. If you need to access this equipment, please supply your identification number (“a” number) so that we can arrange building access in advance.

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience during this time.

If you have any concerns please contact me to discuss options.

Regards,
Dr Gwen Mayo
