Dr Stephen Jefferies has been awarded an AM (Member of the Order of Australia) for significant service to primary industry, particularly to grain technology and breeding, through executive, research and education roles.
An Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the School of Agriculture, Food and Wine, Dr Jefferies is Chief Executive Officer of Australian Grain Technologies, based here at the Waite campus. Dr Jefferies has played a leadership role in the commercial development of grain technology for the benefit of Australian primary industries, and has held academic positions at the University in wheat and barley breeding.
Dr Jefferies will take up a new role as managing director of the GRDC from July 4.
