Textile Conservation: saving treasures from the past & FOUH AGM

In this free public talk, conservator Mary Jose will give an outline of the general principles of textile conservation and how they can be applied to preserve our precious textiles. Textile conservation treatments from the collection at Urrbrae House and other significant textiles will be discussed.

Mary Jose has a lifelong passion for textiles and a career spent mastering the art of textile conservation. She has worked with notable museums, galleries, private institutions and collectors in Australia, Asia and the UK. She is dedicated to the preservation and appreciation of irreplaceable textiles and the cultural heritage they represent.

Mary is the Director of Fibre of Life.

The Friends of Urrbrae House will hold a brief AGM prior to the talk.

The structure of the evening will be:
5.30 pm: Light refreshments served in the Main Hall
6.00 pm: AGM formalities
6.15 pm: Talk by guest speaker, Mary Jose
